Beyond "Wired but Tired": Why Vagus Nerve Stimulation and Infrared Heat are the New Frontier for Recovery from ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, Long COVID, and Burnout

For years, the chronic illness community (oh hi! in case anyone's new to me and my work - I've been living with chronic illness for approximately the last sixteen years, so as well as supporting the community, I'm also part of it) - especially those living with ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, and POTS - has been told to "just rest" or "manage stress." But as we move into 2026, the global conversation around post-viral recovery and Long COVID has shifted. We now know that these conditions aren't just in the mind; they are rooted in a "locked" state of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS).

At The WellNyss Tree in Brighton, I’m seeing a surge in people looking for something more than a standard massage. They need a Neurometabolic Reset.

The Science of Autonomic Lock

When your body is under prolonged stress or fighting a viral load, it can get stuck in a "Sympathetic" state (Fight or Flight) or, worse, a "Dorsal Vagal" state (Freeze/Shutdown). This is what I call Autonomic Lock. In this state:
